Penguin Rehab and Release

Who We Are

Penguin Rehab & Release is the only facility in North-West Tasmania dedicated to rehabilitating penguins and other seabirds that come into care due to illness, injury, or misadventure, with the aim of preparing them for successful release back into the wild.

Our dedicated team of volunteers works tirelessly while adhering to strict, up-to-date best practice guidelines for seabird rehabilitation. We work closely with experts in seabird care to ensure every bird has the best possible chance of survival, rehabilitation, and safe release back into its natural environment.

Financial contributions are essential for us to continue operating and providing the care, facilities, and resources needed for our penguins and local seabirds to survive, thrive, and return to the wild healthy and strong.

It costs:

$10 per day, per penguin for food and nutrition.

$5 per day, per penguin for hygiene and cleaning supplies.

$15 per day, per penguin for medical treatment and care.

These ongoing costs are only manageable through donations and the fundraising efforts of our volunteers and supportive community.

In addition to donations, we now offer a range of merchandise that directly supports the care and rehabilitation of our penguins and seabirds. Every dollar of profit goes directly towards the ongoing operational costs and essential support required to care for these much-loved animals.
